Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Sealis, including the Sealis browser extension, Sealis Projects and a Pro subscription if you take one. By creating an account you agree to them. “We” means Sealis, contactable at info@sealis.tech.

The service

Sealis is provided by a sole trader (ABN 78 372 425 561). Sealis rewrites text you provide so it reads in your voice, using writing samples and corrections you supply. It's built not to add facts, figures or claims that weren't in your text, and each rewrite is checked for that, but it is still generated by an AI model, so read it before you send or publish it. Don't rely on it for contracts, legal, medical or other wording where an exact meaning matters. You're responsible for what you do with a rewrite. Sealis is new and still improving; features may change, and we'll give notice of changes that materially affect a paid plan.

Plans

Free includes 5 rewrites a week and 1 persona, with no card required. Pro costs A$11.99/month (Australian dollars, including GST where it applies) and includes 25 rewrites a week and 1 persona. Studio adds clients, each with their own voice (up to 5), client delivery pages and 50 rewrites a week; its price is shown on the pricing page, and larger arrangements are invoiced by agreement. Rewrites reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC and unused ones don't carry over. Rewrites are counted across your whole account, not per persona. A rewrite that fails to produce a result isn't counted. Sealis Projects is a one-off purchase, described in the next section. Studio accounts, including the free week of Studio, include it for as long as the account has Studio.

Sealis Projects

What it is. Sealis Projects is a set of practice copywriting briefs, lessons and exercises, with automated checks, written feedback and a portfolio page. Every client, brand and person in a project brief is fictional, and any resemblance to a real business or person is a coincidence. Projects are practice, not paid work, and they aren't commissioned or endorsed by any real brand.

It isn't a qualification. Sealis Projects is for practice. It is not an accredited course. It isn't a qualification, certificate, diploma, licence or credential of any kind, and no education provider, regulator or industry body has accredited, approved or endorsed it. Finishing it doesn't mean you are certified, qualified or ready for any job. It doesn't give you real client experience, and we don't promise or guarantee any work, clients, income or other result from using it.

Feedback is automated. The checks are simple rules, and the written feedback is generated by an AI model. Both can be wrong or miss things. They are not an expert assessment or professional grading, and they can't tell you whether your writing would persuade a real reader or win work. Use your own judgement, and ask an experienced copywriter where you can.

Your access. Access is for you alone, for your own learning. Don't share your account, or copy, republish or resell the lessons, briefs or feedback. We own the lessons and briefs; you own what you write. If a payment for Projects is refunded in full, your access ends, and what you wrote stays in your account in case you buy again.

Your portfolio. You can share a portfolio page. You choose which pieces it shows, and anyone with the link can see it, including your name, headline and bio. It isn't listed on search engines, but we can't stop someone passing the link on. You can stop sharing at any time. Every piece carries a label saying it is a concept project written from a simulated brief. You must not remove that label, and you must not present a project as paid client work or as endorsed by a real brand. You're responsible for what you write on the page.

Payment, renewal and cancelling

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Pro is charged when you subscribe and then renews automatically each month, on the same date, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Account page (“Manage subscription”). Cancelling stops future charges, and Pro stays active until the end of the month you've already paid for.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry it for a short period and you keep Pro while it does. If it still can't be collected, the subscription ends and your account moves to Free.

Sealis Projects is a single payment, in Australian dollars (including GST where it applies), at the price shown at checkout. It isn't a subscription and never renews. Checkout may offer to show the price in your local currency. If you choose that, Stripe's exchange rate applies, which includes a conversion fee set by Stripe and paid by you; paying in Australian dollars avoids that fee.

If we change the price of Pro, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you want to.

Refunds

Because you can cancel at any time and keep Pro until the end of the paid month, we don't give refunds for part-used months or for changing your mind. If something went wrong (you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, or Pro didn't work), email info@sealis.tech and we'll put it right. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including to a remedy if the service has a major failure.

Sealis Projects is digital content bought once. We don't give refunds for changing your mind, but if something went wrong (you were charged twice, you paid and couldn't get access, or it has a serious fault), email info@sealis.tech and we'll put it right. If we refund a Projects payment in full, your access ends. If you paid in another currency, Stripe refunds you in that currency at the exchange rate you paid. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.

Going back to Free

Nothing is deleted when Pro ends. Every persona stays viewable and exportable, and your default persona stays fully usable. Other personas become read-only until you subscribe again. On Free you can change which persona is your default once every 30 days.

Your account and fair use

Keep your sign-in details secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. One person per account. Don't use Sealis for anything illegal, abusive, deceptive or that infringes someone else's rights; don't try to get around its limits, access it through automated scripts, disrupt it, or resell it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

When you start using Sealis Projects, Studio or Pro, we ask you to agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy again for that product, and we keep a record of which product, which version of the terms and when.

Your content

You own what you write and paste into Sealis, including your work in Sealis Projects, and you own the rewrites. You give us permission to store and process your content only as needed to provide the service to you. See the Privacy Policy for the detail, including how our AI provider handles it. You can export or permanently delete your content from inside the app at any time.

Liability

We work hard to keep Sealis available and accurate, but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. None of this limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded.

Ending your use

You can stop using Sealis and delete your account at any time; deleting it cancels any subscription immediately. If we close your account for reasons other than a breach of these terms, we'll refund the unused part of any month you've paid for.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Sealis develops. We'll update the date above, and tell you by email or in the app before a change that materially affects a paid plan takes effect.

Copyright complaints

Sealis doesn't publish anything you write; your text and rewrites are private to your account, except a portfolio page that you choose to share (see Sealis Projects above). If you believe Sealis is being used to infringe your copyright, email info@sealis.tech with what the work is, where you saw it, and how to reach you, and we'll look into it promptly.

These terms are governed by the laws in force in Australia.

Privacy Policy

Sealis rewrites text in your voice: you give it writing samples and drafts, and it rewrites them to sound like you. This page explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and how you can control it. “We” means Sealis; you can reach us at info@sealis.tech.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address and your password, which is stored hashed by our authentication provider. We never see it in plain text. We also keep a record of the terms you agreed to when you started each product (which product, which version and when). If you continue with Google instead, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture link with us, and no password is created; we use only your email address.
Your writing. The writing samples you add, the drafts you submit, the rewrites Sealis produces, your edits to them, the feedback you tap (“too formal” and so on), and anything you ask Sealis to stop using. It's stored against your account and, if you use personas, against the persona it belongs to, along with each persona's name and note.
Sealis Projects. Your drafts and submissions, and the checks and feedback they received; your answers to lesson exercises, and the feedback on them; which lessons you've finished; and, if you build a portfolio, the name, headline, bio and pieces you choose to put on it, with the private link to it.
The browser extension. If you use the Sealis Chrome extension, it reads only the text you select and right-click, and only when you choose “Rewrite in my voice”. That text is sent to Sealis and handled exactly like text you paste on the site. The extension doesn't read pages you don't act on, doesn't track your browsing, and stores only which persona you picked, in your own browser. It uses your existing Sealis sign-in.
Your plan and billing. Whether you're on Free or Pro, how many rewrites you've used in the current period, and, if you subscribe, your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, the subscription's status and its renewal or end date. If you buy Sealis Projects, the Stripe checkout and payment IDs, the amount, the date and whether it was refunded. Your card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.
Technical data. Your IP address, and the email address you try to sign in with, kept for a short period (usually about a day) to limit repeated sign-in and sign-up attempts; standard request logs kept by our host; and anonymous page-view counts from Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.

How we use it

To run Sealis for you and for nothing else: to rewrite your text, to check each rewrite against what you wrote so nothing is dropped or invented, to use your saved corrections as examples so later rewrites start closer to your voice, to apply your plan's limits, to take payment if you subscribe, and to protect the service from abuse. Your writing is never shown to other users, except a portfolio page you choose to share, and we don't use it to train a model of our own. Your work in Sealis Projects is used only to run Projects for you, including writing your feedback. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who processes it

We use a small number of service providers, each only for its part of running Sealis:

Supabase: sign-in, account emails, and database storage.
Google sign-in: to confirm who you are if you choose “Continue with Google”. The sign-in page loads Google's sign-in button from Google, so Google can see that your browser opened that page (and may set its own cookies) even if you never use the button.
Microsoft (Azure AI Foundry): writes and checks each rewrite. The text you submit, your writing samples and your recent corrections are sent to an OpenAI model that Microsoft runs on Azure to produce the rewrite, and the text and rewrite are sent again to check it. Microsoft says it does not make this content available to other customers or to OpenAI and does not use it to train its models, but it may keep prompts and responses for a limited time to detect abuse. Avoid pasting anything highly sensitive or confidential.
Google (Gemini API), backup only: if Microsoft's service is unavailable, a rewrite may be sent to Gemini instead. Sealis uses Gemini's free tier, under which Google may use submitted content and responses to improve its products and models, and trained human reviewers may read it. If you are in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, Google applies its paid-tier terms instead and does not use your content this way.
Google Cloud (Vertex AI), Sealis Projects feedback: when you submit a project or ask for feedback on an exercise, your writing and the brief or lesson it relates to are sent to a Gemini model that Google runs on Google Cloud, to write the feedback. Google handles it under its Google Cloud terms. Avoid including anything private in what you write.
Vercel: hosts the application and provides the anonymous page-view analytics.
Stripe: takes payment for Pro, Studio and Sealis Projects. Stripe receives your email address and payment details and handles them under its own privacy policy.

These providers may store and process data outside Australia, including in the United States. We don't share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

Cookies and browser storage

Sealis uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in, plus a short-lived one while you confirm your email, reset your password or sign in with Google. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. To count visits without any cookie, Sealis works out an anonymous code from your connection and browser with a secret value; the code changes every day, and your address itself is not stored. Your browser also keeps a couple of small things locally: which persona you last used, and, if you type into the boxes on the home page before signing up, that text for up to a day so it's waiting for you after sign-up. It's cleared as soon as Sealis picks it up.

How long we keep it

Your writing and account data are kept until you delete them. Each persona keeps your latest 50 history entries and 50 writing samples; older ones drop off. You can delete any sample, clear a persona's history, delete a persona, or delete your whole account from inside the app. Deleting your account cancels any Pro subscription straight away and removes your account and everything in it from our database, including your Sealis Projects work, exercise answers, portfolio and purchase record, and the link to a shared portfolio stops working; it can't be undone. Your Projects work is otherwise kept until you delete it. Copies may remain in our provider's backups for a short time before they expire. Stripe keeps records of past payments for as long as the law requires. Deleting your account can't recall text that was already sent to Microsoft, or to Google’s Gemini on the rare occasions it is used as a backup, to produce a rewrite: each keeps it under its own terms, and we have no way to delete it there. The same goes for Sealis Projects feedback sent to Google Cloud.

Your choices and rights

You can export everything Sealis has stored for you as a file from your Account page at any time: every persona, with its samples, history and what it learned, and your Sealis Projects work. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information by emailing info@sealis.tech. If you're not happy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Children

Sealis isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you by email or in the app before any change that affects how your data is used.
